Lauren & Joey's Wedding | Golden, Colorado

Today is Lauren & Joey's 3rd anniversary - here are some of my favorite shots from their wedding.

Lauren and Joey Perkins were married on a snowy fall day at the Lookout Mountain Chapel, the home of Activation Ministry Center, in the foothills of Golden, Colorado.

The wedding reception was held at Table Mountain Inn in downtown Golden.

An unseasonable frost came through that day, covering everything in ice and just a dusting of snow. The changing leaves were frozen in time - an autumn/winter wonderland.

Wedding photography in photojournalism style.

This adventurous couple braved the cold and Lauren rocked my white rain boots!

Don't Get Boring Headshots! l Golden, Colorado Portrait Photography

You know those headshots you've been putting off for what's approaching a decade? Well quit it.
Headshots don't have to be boring, stuffy, or in front of a grey studio background.
Especially if you live in our fine state of Colorado, fancy is considered wearing your nice jeans. So stop putting it off and let go of that 1980's hairdo you still have on your website. We got you.

Michelle & Matt Pre-Wedding Portraits

It never too late for engagement photos - even if you're getting married in 2.5 weeks!

Michelle and Matt moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado THIS WEEK and are getting married in Keystone at the end of June! Since we didn't have a chance to meet earlier, we arranged for a whirlwind engagement/maternity/get-to-know-you shoot up at Lookout Mountain Park in Golden, Colorado, off of the famous Lariat Loop.

The beginnings of a baby bump.

We chose sunset time and this lovely pair brought their new 6-month-old boxer puppy, Pita. Not, not the food. It stands for Pain. In. The. Ass.

This shoot allowed the two to get comfortable with me poking my camera around in their faces, so that they won't flinch on the big day. It also gives us great photos to use for their photo link cards, welcome cards and guestbook. Looking forward to shooting more of this easygoing pair!

The Brownchicken Browncow Stringband

I had the pleasure of hosting the Brownchicken Browncow Stringband as they passed through Golden, Colorado on their national concert tour last month. The newest member of the band, Miss Kat Fountain, is a dear friend of mine from back home in Connecticut. The crew needed some new shots that included Kat so we took these outside of my house. Matt the bassist has tried putting some of these on a black background and they look really nice, eliminating the background clutter. These fabulous people and musicians were a joy to have around and our home was full of great food and great music in between their shows. I could tell you who plays what, but they all play about 15 instruments, thus the wall of sound next to the van. (By the way, they are raising money to replace the van, "The Predator," on Kickstarter. Check it out and throw down a few bucks if you have it to spare! It'll help them get their kick-ass music to a town near you.
You can listen to their music here:
The moral of the story is... if Kat, Xander, Orion, Matt & Justin ask if they can crash on your floor for a few days - do it. You will be repaid grandly with a full belly and a full heart. Come back soon, guys!

Orion cooks up a mean dinner. (Mean in a good way).

The view through the dog fence... Orion on mandolin.

Angela & Michael's Golden Wedding

SEE THE FULL ALBUM HERE (For a limited time)
.

Angela & Michael actually got married this fall. It was a surprise wedding. They had a few family members over and while the crew was making crafts in the basement, Angela slipped into a wedding dress and they set up an altar in the living room upstairs, overlooking the canyon they live in outside of Boulder.
So this wedding was the wedding celebration! Casual, creative and all together awesome. Angela, a theater buff, and Michael, a dude who's up for anything fun and creative and a healthy challenge, decided to put on a production of "A Prairie Home Companion" for their wedding. What?! Yes, you heard me right. And it was awesome.
Let's start with some portraits...

Starring their family and friends with an audience of .... well, more family and friends, these two along with surprise skits from their friends, crafted a hilarious, entertaining and tear-jerkingly sweet stage production performed at the Miner's Playhouse theater in Golden, Colorado. There were songs, there were skits, and there were vows. Repeating the same vows they exchanged at their wedding, they shared them this time with their greater community. And what vows they were! Michael's of a loving and Buddhist nature and Angela's including a wonderful song to Michael about how lucky she is. Oh man. I need to toughen up at these ceremonies.

The party continued with a cocktail hour in the lobby and then the three of us cruised out to the Washington area downtown in Golden for some portraits. Oh yea, and did I mention that Angela is pregnant? Yay!

Angela's iron fist.

A picnic party followed at Lions Park by Clear Creek, starring food from locals Frank's BBQ. Great party and great crew. Enjoy the photos!
