Published in Patagonia Book

One of my favorite photos (and what now seems to be my signature shot) has been published in Patagonia's new book:

It's a double page spread on page 16 of a 200+ page book and I'm pretty psyched about it!

This shot is of Canadian climber Matt Maddaloni deep water solo climbing the first ascent of "Line of the Rose" near Ton Sai and Railay in Krabi, Thailand.

Thanks for being such a sick climber, Matt! That's way harder than pushing a button!

Kenya Photos...Album l

Here's the first album from Shoot Cameras Not Guns and Technology Partnership's trip to Kenya... Enjoy!

A few of my favorites are below.
More to come...

Kenya

I've been in Kenya for about 2 weeks now, working on my project, Shoot Cameras Not Guns. I started this project in 2006 while teaching photography to Burmese refugees, students and journalists-in-exile living in Thailand.
ShootCamerasNotGuns.org teaches photography to empower people in conflict and post-conflict areas in the US and abroad by using photography as a tool for journalism, story-telling and self expression.
We are always in need of monetary donations as well as donations of used (or new!) digital cameras and digital camera accessories (memory cards, batteries, USB cords, memory card readers, camera cases, international plug adapters, etc). Click here to donate or get in touch with me to donate goods. (info@DianaSabreen.com or Diana@ShootCamerasNotGuns.org)

For this Kenya trip, Shoot Cameras Not Guns has partnered with Technology Partnership, another non-profit that is providing 300 computers and technical training to primary and secondary schools in Kenya. John Kamwara, the Kenya Director of Technology Partnership, sits on the right.

On the way to Meru, we stopped at the Trout Tree Restaurant, a trout farm, treehouse, restaurant playground that had monkeys living in it!

Hannah & Dave Portraits

When Alma/Breck local Matt Miller was injured in a climbing accident, his friends organized a benefit to help with his medical bills. I contributed this portrait session to the silent auction. Hannah and Dave Olszewski won the bid, and we got to do this fun portrait session! See the full album here, for a limited time.

Hannah & Dave got married not too long ago (but before I knew them) and wanted some portraits to complement their wedding photography. We headed to the Blue River Tarn and hiked around a bit on this beautiful summer afternoon.

Dancers in the green room, getting ready for the show.

This year's "Dancing with the Mountain Stars" event was held on September 25, 2010 at theKeystone Conference Center. I had a great time as the event photographer and got to meet and dance with lots of fun Summit County locals! The venue had great stage lighting, which is always a fun challenge to shoot, as the lighting is constantly changing.

Becca & NiQui's Wedding!

Becca & NiQui had their wedding at Becca's grandfather's cabin outside of Kremmling, Colorado. Here are some of my favorite shots from one of my favorite weddings of the year!

Becca, the bride.

The wedding was small - about 25 people - and only family was invited. Most people came from the New York area (like me!) and were new to the beauty of the Colorado mountains. The family was SO fun and friendly and I had such a great time with them.

Old gondola car on the property!

Becca and NiQui are both artists, so the ceremony and the party were made up of lots of artistic and original details - NiQui made Becca's dress! They were into me getting creative, artistic and silly with the shots which I always prefer. While many families participated in the ceremony, there was no officiant and they married themselves! A celebratory paddle-boat ride followed, along with a raging dance party led by Becca's sister, Jamie.
