More Photos.... Breck Outhouse Races & Kingdom Days!!!

The winning (pirate) team of the 2010 Breckenridge Outhouse Races.

Each year, the town of Breckenridge, Colorado celebrates "Kingdom Days," a tribute to a tiny loophole that left Breck as a "Kingdom" instead of part of the United States. (Take that, Boulder!) The weekend offered free mining tours including the Lomax Mine, the Washington Gold and Silver mine among others. There was a free petting zoo and burro rides from Laughing Valley Ranch, kid's art workshops in the Arts District, walking tours of historical downtown, gunfights from Gold Canyon Gunfighters and... oh, did I mention THE OUTHOUSE RACES?! For those of you who read the previous post, you know I got a little too close, trying to get "the shot" and, yes, I got hit by an outhouse. Hard. No, I did not get too hurt, no my cameras did not break, and no, there was NO poo in the outhouse.

Breck Outhouse Races and Kingdom Days!

More photos (many more!) to come, but until they're up, let me give you a little something.

Here's the outhouse RIGHT BEFORE it ran me over.
(Is that right wheel starting to fold?)

Here's the next shot my camera took.

No broken camera, no broken bones (but a couple dark blue bruises have formed on the arm). All in all, I now have a good story with minimal bodily harm.
Careful, kids! Photography can be dangerous!

Check back soon for more photos!

Moab!

My friend Matt Seipold and I took a road trip from Breckenridge to Moab, Utah in early spring. The dusty, surprisingly snowy weather made for some surreal photos.
Matt, rocking out on the guitar, in the wilderness.

Surprise blizzard - don't forget your raincoat, kids!

A well-earned meal.

Funny Lady

Maureen Langan is a hilarious New York City based comedian. She wanted more than just the traditional headshot for her new website, so she gave me a call. Click here to check out her website! Of course, we made sure to get some "safe" headshots for a more professional look, but these are some of my non-traditional favorites. Mo was so charismatic, harassing (and I mean that in a good way) random people on the street and luring them into our photos that I seriously considered hiring her as a photo assistant! I'm still back and forth between New York and Colorado, so give a shout if you need any photos in New York!

Maureen luring in strangers on the Lower East Side, Manhattan.

Mo, pretending to be pious.

More random silliness (look away, kids!)

I don't think any of these people knew each other... I heart New York City.

We figured we should get some "safe" professional portraits, too :)

Millionaires' Pampering Extravaganza!

A mother of the bride of a wedding I shot last year asked me to donate photography services for the Millionaires' Pampering Extravaganza at the First Unitarian Church in Denver. This day provided professional hair, makeup, nail care and photography (me) for some well-deserving women. All these ladies were super fun and the stylists did a fantastic job. It was really an honor to be a part of this experience and to provide images of the strength and beauty of these women.

Thanks to Kay Beaton for the backdrop!

SPRING MASSIVE!

The Rouge, rockin' out.

Each spring, Breckenridge Resort holds it's annual Spring Massive festival, holding contests, rail jams and live music. This year's closing day concert was by The Bravery, and opened by The Rouge of Denver. For the full gallery, click here.
