Cara & Family Portraits at Keystone Resort, Colorado

Cara and her family came to Keystone for a "mud season" family vacation. Mud season is that shoulder time of the year in May and June... the mountain's not open and the weather is just starting to look brighter, right before the crowds came rolling in.
This family was so much fun and the kids were unbelievably cooperative.
I've left in some of my favorite outtakes of this shoot, because I love how they show how real life is... especially with kids. Enjoy!

Favorite Outtake #1 (I may have made them say, "Colorado!")

Favorite Outtake #2 (She reeeeaaally wanted that thumb in her mouth. This is where we let the kids run around on their own for a few minutes.)

Mindi & Family Frisco Portraits

Mindi and her family came from Kansas for vacation in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. We took portraits at the Frisco Historical Park among the old buildings. The weather looked like it was going to be fine and dandy. Not super freezing, a bit overcast (which I prefer for an outdoor studio type of look and consistent lighting). But then last minute- and by last minute I mean pretty much the moment her four young children stepped out of the car- the wind picked up. And I mean PICKED UP. Like blizzard style, assuming there had been any snow in Summit County at all this year (but that's a whole 'nother story...)

After much bundling in blankets and coats and trying to embrace our adventure, we sought shelter in the old schoolhouse. The kids got to warm up for a bit looking at the old trains, and the oldest Michael tried out my camera for a while (camera strap around the neck, of course).

The kids got a kick out of the old jail cell (below).

Once the kids were all snuggled away back in the van and we managed a few good shots where everyone was looking at the camera and had a look on their face that was passable as content and not crying (Kids! This is how it goes!), we took some good shots of the adults. Turns out kids can keep you from focusing on some good photos of yourselves as a couple. Hope you two enjoy these and had some fun together. I know I did!

Shayne & Family Portraits in Breckenridge, Colorado

Shayne & his family visited Breckenridge, Colorado this December on a vacation from their Texas home and wanted some family portraits. Shayne found me on the Gathering Guide website and we shot some photos in downtown Breck. They showed up in totally coordinated pink, gray, black and white outfits that ended up looking adorable and vibrant in the photos. These guys were so fun and easy to shoot!

Outside the historic Fuqua building and artist space.

The youngest actually did a great job of smiling the whole time, until she took a spill on the icy sidewalk :(

To get everyone comfortable, I had the littlest one lead a game. She chose "Ring around the rosey." Good choice.

Family Portraits

Here's some family portraits of the Earley family who were visiting Breckenridge and Summit County for a family reunion. We shot these photos among the wildflowers at the Black Bear Lodge, just outside of town. Click HERE to see more photos.
