What happens when you take aerial performers, pastries flown in from Australia and a festival in the mountains of Colorado? You get Jill & Aaron's Circus Wedding Extravaganza!
It was important to these two lovebirds to share their community with their families. So rather than creating a separate event, the wedding was held at Apogaea this July. "Apo" is a festival held in the mountains near Bailey, Colorado. It's a regional spinoff of Burning Man, an even bigger festival in the Nevada desert.

Burner culture is based on creating your own world, rather than consuming the one that is presented to you on TV, in magazines, at Target, etc.

I had the honor of being one of the bridesmaid/decorative flowers in this wedding extravaganza. We danced and gave out flowers to the guests while opening the ceremony space for the couple. We all made our own tutus as bridesmaid dresses and the guys created feathered top hats (and some decided to rock tutus as well. Why should girls get all the fun?)
Jill and Aaron are aerial fabric performers and wanted to share their world and friend-performers with their guests- especially those new to this creative and collaborative community. The wedding was a circus show complete with aerialists, dancers and acro balancing acts.

If you are planning a wedding, remember that your wedding should be a festival, celebrating how awesome you are and what sets you apart from the rest of the world. It's a special day, but not one that needs to be "perfect" or to fit in a box. Get dirty. Dance hard. Enjoy the people around you and don't be afraid to be yourself and create your world.
Beautiful photos, and beautifully put together, Diana! I love being surrounded by such a family of artists.
